Holidays in the time of COVID-19

If taking the right precautions for COVID-19, holidays can still be enjoyable. Thus, for your reassurance, here are some steps needed to help you prepare for your holidays in Greece.

Step 1: Planning

Before beginning to plan your travel, it would be wise to check the regulations on precautions and other restrictions. Due to the increase of cases once again, many countries are now required to be tested before and after travelling, and complete a certain amount of quarantine days.

Step 2: Preparing

Although it might not be needed, it is advised to take a viral test 2 to 3 days before your trip. In the event of being positive, you need to self-isolate and follow your doctor’s or the public health’s instructions. If you are negative, keep your results with you if you need to show them to the authorities while travelling.

Step 3: Packing

Even if your test results are negative, it is necessary to take all the precautions recommended by public health. For instance, when outside or visiting any indoor place, wear a mask and carry with you a hand sanitiser. Thus, when packing, make sure to have plenty of extra supplies for your trip.

Step 4: Travelling

On the day of your trip, it is unavoidable to get into a large crowd. Thus, be sure to always wear your mask and gloves. Or, at least wash your hands regularly and use your hand sanitiser as much as you can. Furthermore, if possible, keep at least two metres apart from everyone.

Step 5: Touring

Understandably, as a tourist, anyone would want to tour around a new place. But due to the circumstances, it is wise to try and keep your distance from the crowd. Also, always wear your mask and use your hand sanitiser. It is advised to try and avoid indoor places, especially tiny, crowded places. So, try to be outdoors as much as you can.

Step 6: Leaving

Once you get back home, you should self-isolate for at least a week since you may have been exposed to COVID-19 while travelling. In some cases, it is obligatory to undergo another test, so make sure to check your country’s regulations.
